Did you looked at topic called New tool? There is very useful link inside clicky. Not only said tools allow
you to look at model outside of game, there is also converter from binary to text variant of file and vice-versa.

Of course, old-fashioned hex-editing also works, but I was able to change only name of texture this way (provided it has same length, of course).

edit: better look for first link

That was nice information but I've encountered problems when downloading and also got missing or damaged archive.

If it can wait till wednesday night (+3 GMT), I can get home and send it to you by email. While these are not mine and I didn't make them, these tools are just too useful to get eaten by savefile.com.

Thanks anyway my good friend, I've managed to get the a copy of it from StrategyCORE, but problems still persists I've run the viewer and loaded all it requested but it doesn't show me any models and textures?

Weird, I did install everything without any problems . . . and followed the instructions

Yep, here comes a catch. Model viewer don't eat binary models, it eats only text-converted ones. At least, that is how I managed it to work.

edit: Forgot to add: not all models will be displayed anyway. Looks like if model doesn't have "specular" method
(and associated texture as well), it will not show. Not that it matters if you happen to modify human weapons,
for example, but it does if you modify reticulan ones.

Err . . . not only the darn thing crashes my system over and over . . . ew . . . I'll just view the models in-game for now. Since I can't seem to make this work for me.

Problems with NV4 thing kept persisting.

Look at this from a bright side: I'm unable to do it as well for now. Reason, though is different - I do not have linux-x86 port of model editor, viewer of simple vfstool. Using Redhat AS 3 as desktop has its disadvantages.
So much for that .NET cross-platforming...
