Hey all,

I have been working on this for quite some time now and I am finally ready to unveil what I have been working on. Unfortunately the savefile.com site is down right now for upgrades, so you are going to have to wait for the files for a couple more days. But I just wanted to get this out.

First off, I must give thanks.

ShadoWarrior - First and foremost, thank you for your wonderful tutorial. This mod could not have been made without your help.

psychophat - Again, your tutorial on adding additional armours helped me make this. (When you get back we can roll all this into the Unleashed mod)

Tubal - Once again, your tutorial on making skins was a great help.

rman - thanks for your help in helping me understanding the files.


Ok, onto the mod. I have created a little mod that contains 12 new armours.

LIGHT ARMOURS:


The armour on the left is a light armour based on the US AFSAR digital pattern.

The armour in the middle is based off of the Swiss Woodland camouflage pattern.

The light armour on the right is a light armour made from an Urban pattern.



(NOTE: I guess I can only post a few images at a time so I will have to do this with multiple posts.)



Once savefile.com get's back on line, I will place the zip file for download. I am not sure when that is going to be.

Lastly, I have been working on this for the Unleashed mod with psychophat and rman; but I have not heard from them is quite some time. I will roll these items into that mod when we get back together; but I did not want to release something that they did (and they have some really cool stuff in the mod) without their permission. That is why this mod was created.

Amorymod PART II



The armour on the left is based from the Russian VSR camouflage pattern.

The armour in the middle is called Reflec Light armour and it is good against lasers and energy weapons. The camouflage pattern is based off of the US Army digital desert pattern.

The armour on the right is my version of Plasteel Armour. Slightly better than standard light armour.



These two armours are my favorites. The armour on the left is my Powered Scout Armour. It comes with a +1 to the wearer's STR and it has a cloaking device and sound dampener already installed. The camouflague pattern is based off the US army digital tigerstripe pattern.

The armour on the right is my Powered Combat Armour. It is slightly better than the Scout Armour and it comes with a +2 to the wearer's STR. This camouflage pattern is based off a German WWII Bundeswehr pattern.

MEDIUM ARMOURS



The armour on the left is my Powered Assault Armour and it comes with a +3 to STR. It is based off of an Ukranian camouflage pattern.

The armour on the right is the suit of M-II Combat Assault Armour. This suit of armour is powered and comes with a +4 to the wearers STR. The camouflage pattern is based off of a German WWII pattern.


HEAVY ARMOUR

This is the Predator Heavy Armour. The Predator armour comes with a +5 to the wearer's STR and comes equiped with a cloaking device. The camouflage pattern is based off of a German WWII pattern.



BONUS
This last armour was lost and I have finally found it. I really like the pattern so I wanted to include it in the mod. It will replace the standard lightarmor design and I plan to add this to the next version of the mod. It is based off of a German WWII pattern; but for now it is just the standard light armour.

Awesome. I'm guessing this isn't compatible with SW's Weapon Rebalance mod?

These are really nice skins, though. It's tempting, but not enough so to make me get rid of the WR mod tongue.gif. Sorry.

I agree with you 100% Gorre. SW's weaponrebalance mod is the best out there. That is why I have incorporated my mod with his 3.16 version for my own personal enjoyment.

I just tested the link and I was able to download the zip file. So at least that is a good sign.

EDIT: Well, if the Link worked anyway. It just says (to me) "File not found".

BTW, does each armor have helmets to go with them? And do all them still have the normal amount of slots for each type of armor? Thanks.

Sorry guys, I was gone all weekend at a conference and I just now had a chance to fix (or at least attempt to fix the problem). You know how it goes, the first time you use anything you jack it all up.

The above link SHOULD unsure.gif work.... please give it a go.

Regarding the questions by Gorre:

I have skinned the helmets; but I have not added them to the mod. And yes, all these armors have the same number of slots as the default items.

Well, the link works, but it takes a long time for the file to begin downloading, but then when the file does start downloading, there is nothing in the file. It might be just me, but the file said finished downloading when it was at 1kb tongue.gif

Well crapola..... It took like 4 mins to upload the file and it should be 9.6 mb.

I just checked and it looks like 13 people have tried to download it. Anyone else have any issues?

All of those downloads was probably me refreshing the pae and experaminting with the download...

It's still doing the same thing though. I'm patient though, I can wait tongue.gif.

Hi drake.

You probably already know it but you CAN change atributes/skill even to negativer number! You can even go below 0 in soldier's stats.
Example: you have armour with -5 strength influencer. Soldier has 3 strength. Result will be soldier with 1 strength.

You can influence: long range
rifles
close range
throwing
mechanical

stealth
observation

strength
agility
dexterity
willpower
intelligence
perception

Others I don't know how to influence. Maybe through change in you "influencer code".

I'm sorry if I'm repeating something that someone has already written. I haven't seen this kind of changes in your armory mod so I thought it would be good to write.

I was thinkin heavier armours influencing speed(I don't know how to change this stat), maybe stealth(probably louder???)

Wanted to start a new game with mods - wanted to ask if this mod is compatible with Shadow warriors weapon rebalance mod 3.17 (or how i can make it compatible for myself)
i think it should be compatible with heroic assault mod, large land base mod and militia mod.

When you save the new edited textures, how do you svae them as?

DTX3? DTX1 (no alpha), DTX1 (1bit alpha) ?

WTF?? I'm having more and more problems with my textures!

A 685 kb heavysoldeir.dds, after editing and saving ends up 1.364kb big, and another file was a whopping 2.728 kb !!!!!!
This never happened to me when I modded Oblivion or Freespace or Freelancer or any other game...

Needless to say, the armors don't work well in game.. when I equip the light armor it is as if I didn't equip a soldier with anything. He stands tehre in the squad window with that basic suit!
The heavy armor givem me some assrt failed error, so please, if you know what hte hell is going on I could use your help!

No my mod is not compatible with SW's mod. Sorry about that. I agree, the weapon rebalance mod is the best out there.

This is something that I can do. I will have to find the time and I will put something out.

Are you converting the DDS files to TGA files, modifying them and then converting them back to DDS files? This is the way that you should be doing the skinning. Tubal has a great guide on how to do it and what files to use. The editors that I use are all free to download off the internet. I use the DDS Converter 2 to convert the filesto .tga files. I then modify them using Gimpshop. Then convert them back to DDS with the converter.

Just on a side note, PFM you said that you were able to modify the STEALTH skill, I have not been able to modify the Stealth or the Perception skill.

How did you do that?

I have created some Light helmets in my mod that do the following:

Rifleman's helmet: +1 to Rifle skill
Sniper Helmet: +1 to Long Range
Commanders Helmet: +1 to INT
Scout Helmet: +1 to Observation

I wanted to try and add +1 Stealth to my POWERED SCOUT armor; but I could not find a way.

The game recognizes only certain values for 'skill' (applied only for 'effect int 12' as I undestand it), which are
Jump, Psi Power, Willpower, Intelligence, Observation, Sniper, Agility, Throwing, Rifles, Close Range, Strength,
Dexterity, Capacity, Long Range, Hit Points.
The way I understand it, ufo.exe simply doesn't recognize other values. On a bright side, you can make armor with Jump bonus. At least, this bonus will be visible.

b.t.w. - since I can't get my textures to work, a simple test is in order. I'll put a link to the texture to the heavy armor.

Please, see if it works for you (keep it and use it in this mod of your if you want)

Since your are asking. While transforming text model back to binary, I got

I strongly suggest you not to use whatever you used to covert dds.

I used Photoshop 7.0 with NVidia .dds plug-in..

Totaly strange...

and I used generate mip-map option. It has 4 of them...

EDIT: Found hte problem. It should have 10 mip maps. Now everything wroks fine.. biggrin.gif
