Hey all!

I see mods, and I like them. But there are a lot of them.

Which mods are good? Which are reccommended? And which of them are compatible with each other?

So far the weapon rebalance + militia + assault mods look good...

On using mods, do they overwrite some game files when installed? Or is there a "launcher" of sorts I am not aware of?

AS mods have no launchers (unlike Oblivion). Most AS mods do not overwrite game files. They overlay them. That is, the original files are still there, but overridden by the mod's. One important exception is my Weapon Rebalance mod, which replaces the game's localization file (which contains all the game's displayed text). That is the only file my mod overwrites. All other files that my mod affects are temporary (ie: if you remove a mod the game is restored to the pre-mod state). Which is why included in the instructions for my mod is a warning about the localization file and backing it up. Also, another warning is that some mods (such as my WR mod, and the big bases mod) alter what gets saved in the savegame files, so if you remove the mod you will no longer be able to use savegames from when the mod was active. The assault mods (and I think the militia mod as well) can be added or removed at any time without adverse effect on saves.

So is there anything else exceptional out there except for the Rebalance, Militia, Assault mods that I should look into and that doesn't conflict?

You might want to look at the Large Land Bases and the No Intro mods, as well as Tubal's camo mods.

having decimated aftermath a few months ago i decided to turn my attention to aftershock and shock is exactly what i got. i was the one getting decimated this time round. Now ive seen (and tried) most of the mods going but the game is just to hard. now im running an easier novice mod , and armour mod AND the weapon rebalance mod (nice work by the way shadow) but im still getting my ass kicked and some fetures of the mods arnt working. (presumably because i have 3 going at the same time)

What i really want to know is if there is a mod out there that combines all 3 of the mods im running and if there is , then where can i get my hands on it?
